Elementary OS – Conquering home computers

eos

I remember the days when I was starting up with Linux four years ago. I started off with Mint, a good distro but still unfamiliar and strange. Once I got training I was able to handle and tackle almost all RPM, Deb and custom Linux with ease. Undoubtedly Linux was (and still is) very powerful and capable of doing unique things from server point of view; But still, Linux was a remote option for desktop, a daily general purpose use. I remember the days when I was juggling with several distributions – Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse, Mint, Debian, Redhat, Majaro etc along with their several flavors of Unity, Gnome, KDE, LXDE, Cinnamon and many more to find a perfect fit. But none of them were a fit an practical for daily general purpose use. The longest installed OS was fedora 17, for 14 months that too because I made final year project based on that.

I decided to try Elementary OS , It was just one Operating System capable of fulfilling all needs. I have been using EOS Luna for past six months. Rock solid, completely functional from the perspective of a Developer and General User. Obviously eye candy like Mac, and lightweight enough to boot up in 11 SECONDS.It was like a dream come true. While using EOS Luna, I never felt incomplete. I never thought of installing any other Linux Distro at any point. Even the default apps of EOS are so so powerful….  count it on looks, count it on low resource consumption, count it on server power, count it on practicality, count it on ease of use, EOS is a win win in every aspect of computer.

And now the EOS community has released the next version – Elementary OS Freya based on Trusty Tahr. I have been using this since three days in my personal low configuration laptop, and it works like charm. At one point I used to think that Luna is the best and cannot be improved, but I was proved wrong with Elementary OS Freya 0.3 . Perfection lies in the slightest and finest details, hard work. The EOS developers had proved themselves.

After all, this is a distro designed by Graphics designers who are also software developers. A breed like me 🙂

I fell in love with this distro not just because of looks, I fell in love because of the beauty of her character, heart and soul (Linux).

Thumbs up, for Elementary OS Freya 0.3
